For this project we created a cover for the High School's Program of Studies. My first step in creating my program of studies was to plan out my cover. I decided to make the text go over the background collage. I tried to make the words "MHS Program of Studies" very noticeable by making the font large and using a black stroke around the white lettering. I decided to go with the Trebuchet MS bold font. The reason that I decided to make the words go across the middle was to make sure that it would pop. The reason that I picked the pictures I did was that I tried to use pictures with a lot of maroon in them. Whether that be lockers, clothes, or walls to try to blend them with the maroon background. I replaced 2 of the pictures that I chose with the top left and bottom right pictures because I didn't like how they fit in with the rest of the pictures. There was no real idea behind how I put the pictures in this was just the layout that looked the best. I made this project by first making the lettering in illustrator. I made the text by writing out "M" "H" and "S" separately in 325 font size and "Program" and "of Studies" in 70 size. I then set them at a 45 degree with a slight overhang of the page. Then a made the all of the words outlines. Next I imported it in into Indesign. The Indesign document has to be 8.5 by 11 with a half inch bleed. The next step was to bring in all of the pictures. For the pictures you have to bring them into Photoshop and convert them into a CMYK image. You also have to adjust the size of the image, I made all of my images 1000 pixels wide. You can do both of these things in the Images drop down menu in Photoshop. Next make the background maroon. I did this by making a maroon rectangle over the entire background. Then I put the Images in place. My images were placed a half inch from the edges of the paper and then I had an eighth of an inch separating each picture. Then I put the text from illustrator over top of all of them. After that you can save your image as a printable PDF and print.
